Term Two Dates 2013: MAY 29 & June 19
When: Wednesday 1-4pm
Where: The Shed Indoor Skate Park Casey Complex New Holland Drive, Cranbourne 3977 (Mel134 C6)
How Much: $9
Helmets Available for hire at: $5
Age: 6+ (This is the venues age restriction)
Details: This is a very casual affair, no need to book, just turn up if you feel like coming or organise a group of your friends to go along together. Pay for yourself upon arrival at the venue, you will need to fill out a “waiver” form on the first day (or download it from the website and have it filled in ready to go) and then you will receive a card the next time you go, if you’ve been before bring your card. Parents and sibling (who are only watching) are to sign a spectators waiver which is located on the front counter as you enter.
Sessions times are set by “The Shed” so we have to stick to the 1-4pm time slot. Of course if you wish to go to the session before or after you’re more than welcome to but please check the website for session times etc.)
There is an upstairs area to sit with tables and chairs, there is room for younger siblings who can't go on the skatepark to do quiet activities, so I suggest you bring something they can amuse them selves with. If you are comfortable leaving your older children to skate on their own you may do so, however they will have to be completely responsible for themselves.
You’re welcome to bring food and drink (please check website for any restriction eg no glass). There are snacks and drinks for sale at the canteen. Helmets must be worn at all times and please look at the website for the rules and stuff you might want to know about the venue.
If your child has concerns that they might not be up to attempting a big skate park like this, most kids who come now had done very little skate park riding when they first started, and all the kids picked it up really quickly, also as we are on during school hours and not in holidays, it usually pretty quiet. There is no "rough" element to intimidate, and the staff a lovely. Please ring me if you have any concerns.
WEBSITE: http://www.theshedskatepark.com.au/
Contact: You don’t need to tell me if you’re coming or not however if you have any questions that you can’t find answers for on the website or just want to check it's still on you can contact Karen dk.mac@optusnet.com.au or 0423 218 517. "The Shed" doesnt have the dates we meet on (as it is not a booked in event), and although we are in there regularly, if you ring them to ask about this activity, they have no record of it and may not be able to answer your questions.
Hope we see heaps of you there…

Basketball for Homeschoolers
This is The basketball info from last year, it is still running so please just email Jane if you are interested or to find out if any of the details have changed, I am pretty sure it's still same time and day and price. Karen.
Basketball is still pretty much the same as last year except we now start at 1.15pm sharp (still on every Thursday of school term). It goes for an hour. Cost still $5 each week pay at the door as you come in. Kids to wear sandshoes & bring water bottle plus a basketball if they have one. We have found that new beginners to basketball aged below ~7-8 years tend to not be skilled enough anymore. Kids tend to be 8-14. The current group have been together for 12-18 months so they are able to do the basics, thus more advanced stuff is now taught.
It is held at the Frankston Basketball Stadium. You are welcome to come along and check it out. If you decide to continue, then you really need to make a commitment to be there most weeks. We have found that it doesn't work for the kids otherwise & they fall behind & then lose interest. Heath & Jess (the coaches) have 2 rules - no talking or bouncing the ball whilst they are explaining stuff. The kids tend to love it & the parents also love it because it is a great way to catch up with other parents (basically mums).
Contact Jane
gjberry@iinet.com.au or ph 0413 213 710) if you do decide to come so that I can let Heath know.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like any further info.
